Every step of our process is designed to ensure quality, consistency, and sustainability.
Everything begins here. The mother rooms are the cornerstone of our production, housing the genetic source of our medical cannabis varieties destined for cultivation.
The next step involves carefully taking cuttings from the mother plants and moving them to the baby room, where their growth continues under controlled conditions.
In this room, cuttings are placed into small rockwool blocks to encourage rapid root formation. Once rooted, they are moved to the vegetative rooms for further growth.
Maintaining high humidity here is essential. It reduces water loss in the young plants, minimizes stress, and allows them to focus energy on developing strong root systems.
After initial rooting, cuttings enter the vegetative stage. Each plant remains in its small rockwool block and is placed into a larger one to support further development.
At this stage, plants are arranged close together without covers, fostering a beneficial microclimate. This environment promotes strong root systems and vigorous overall growth.
During the vegetative stage, the plant concentrates on producing stems and leaves rather than buds, building a solid structure for healthy flowering in the next phase.
As mature, well-rooted cannabis plants transition toward flowering, they begin producing aromatic blossoms. During this stage, defoliation is performed two to three times, depending on how each strain's side shoots develop.
Defoliation involves removing side shoots from roughly the lower two-thirds of the plant. This helps redirect the plant's energy toward flower development and ensures the flowers receive ample light for optimal growth.
Fully grown cannabis plants, bearing dense and aromatic flowers, are harvested by cutting them at the stem. They are then hung upside down on rolling metal racks, a method that ensures optimal drying.
These racks are subsequently moved into one of our dedicated drying rooms, where controlled conditions help preserve the quality and potency of the flowers.
At this stage, the flowers are dried under carefully controlled climatic conditions for around 14 days.
With precise sensor technology and laboratory analysis of the flowers' moisture content, we determine the exact moment they reach the ideal moisture level. Once this point is achieved, the flowers are ready for the next step: trimming.
At this stage, the flowers are carefully separated from the stems, and buds are trimmed to remove all leaves.
A meticulous quality control process follows: each flower is examined by hand, and any remaining leaves are removed. A final inspection is then carried out by our trained staff to ensure consistent quality.
Once approved, the entire production is securely stored under controlled conditions.
After harvest, our facility undergoes thorough cleaning. All racks, equipment, hoses, and walls are meticulously cleaned and disinfected.
We then perform a detailed analysis of the room's microbial levels to verify the effectiveness of the cleaning process.
Only when the results confirm that microbial counts meet our strict standards does the cultivation cycle resume. At that point, plants from the vegetative stage are moved into the grow room, ensuring the best possible start for the next crop.
At Clonleaf, we believe that responsible businesses have an obligation to protect the environment. We are dedicated to operating our production processes sustainably and with respect for natural resources. All the electricity we use comes exclusively from renewable, green sources, specifically hydroelectric power.
Our facilities feature an advanced heat recovery system that captures the heat generated during operations to warm offices and other areas efficiently.
Any surplus heat is collected, stored, and can even be sold offsite, enhancing overall energy efficiency and reducing waste.
We rely on Fluence's state-of-the-art LED technology to enhance our cultivation processes. Compared to traditional HID bulbs, these LEDs deliver higher energy efficiency and longer operational life, helping to reduce waste.
In addition to their efficiency, LED lights provide an optimized light spectrum specifically designed to support cannabis growth, improving both plant health and productivity.
We use activated carbon filters to effectively remove odours and enhance air quality throughout our facilities.
At the same time, we prioritize air recycling, reusing the majority of indoor air and introducing only about 10% fresh air. This approach reduces energy consumption while maintaining a discreet and controlled environment.
We are preparing to integrate GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practice) standards into our operations. These regulatory frameworks ensure quality, consistency, safety, and efficiency in production.
Across all activities, from security protocols to production management, we operate in full compliance with strict regulatory guidelines. Our pursuit of GMP and GACP compliance reflects our dedication to quality and excellence.
